Camping Food Ideas
Where do we start? Camping and Food definitely go together. There are so many things that you can cook while you are out camping. It really depends on where you are going camping and to what extent will your stay be. Are you going for two-three days or are you going for a week? these are questions you'll need to answer before you plan your camping meals.
It's really no different than cooking on the grill in the backyard. Whether it be hotdogs, hamburgers, chicken or ribs.If you can cook it on a grill, you can cook it while you're camping. I have cooked just about everything. From breakfast and pancakes, or grilled chicken for lunch.
I have made biscuits over a fire and a baked chicken in a "Cardboard Oven". The cardboard oven design I'll hold over for the next post. You'll love the cardboard oven. ( Can't wait to show you)
So let's look at some simple recipes.
- Campfire Pigs In A Blanket
Nothing goes better with a campfire than hot dogs on a stick.
- Jalapeño Popper Corn Dip
Jalapeño poppers were meant to be turned into corn dip.
- Grilled Pizza Bread
Yes, you can make pizza over a campfire.
- Rolo Stuffed Bananas
Who can say no to a chocolate and caramel banana?
- Cilantro-Lime Shrimp Foil Packs
This recipe was made for summer.
These are just a few of the recipes that can be found at www.delish.com
Foil pack meals can be easy to prepare and easy to clean-up. I always like taking a potato or corn on the cob and wrap it up in some foil, throw it the fire for a while and WOW doesn't get much better than that.
You can pre-package most of your food supplies in baggies to keep yourself a little more organized. If you are camping for an extended amount of time you'll want to make sure that you can keep your food cold. I always went through the cooler packed stuff first. Then I would work on the food items that didn't require a cold environment.
Over and about your meal selection, take snacks. It always seemed that while outdoors I would get so busy that sitting down for a full meal was out of the question. I liked to get up for a big breakfast and in the evening a nice meal.
But, outside of that, it was all snacks and eat and go. I say " Have some fun with it". try new things and make sure that you are doing more enjoying the outdoors than cooking.
Until Next Time
